Coffee stains a bad day

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

I was running late this morning and after driving a half a mile of my way to work I realized I’d forgotten my cell phone.

This usually does not bother me, but it seems to bother most people who try to call me throughout the day. I decided to go back home and fetch my personal hand held tracking device. I made a wide illegal u-turn at the next intersection and spilled my coffee down my shirt and lap. Ran up to my 3rd floor, grabbed the cell, and then I’m off into the car. Cobblestone roads are not friendly in a jeep, once again my coffee is all over my shirt. Today just happens to be “the day in a life of a credit union” therefore marketing’s cameras will be documenting the work day. I am not in any condition to be photographed, my stained shirt doesn’t even match my pants.

If you are still reading this you must be a really good friend. I’m now seated at my desk. The office is very quiet…at least for now. There is a brand new bag of Dunkin Doughnuts coffee placed on my desk. Thank goodness the hard core coffee lovers in IT do not have to drink Folgers anymore. This brightens my day. I stash the bag under my desk. Turn on the computer and look to my left. I realize that my most valuable co-worker has taken the day off. I am happy for him… I hope he is still sleeping or watching cartoons.

At this point it is time to start some work, I reach into my purse and find that my glasses are not there. Oh Great!!! I’ll be reading with one eye all day. Today has been off to a bad start. I throw away a clump of receipts collecting in my purse. Amongst this clump I find a fortune cookie message… “Age can never hope to with you while your heart is young”. I was hoping for something more profound.
